India Reduces National AT&C Power Losses by 5.75% in Four Years

The Government of India, through the Ministry of Power, has successfully reduced Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses at the national level from 21.91% in FY21 to 16.16% in FY25. This achievement is attributed to the implementation of several initiatives, including the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), which aims to further cut down AT&C losses to 12-15% and eliminate the ACS-ARR gap. The scheme supported infrastructure projects worth Rs. 2.83 lakh crore, promoting sustainable and efficient power distribution. Additionally, rules have been established for cost reflective tariffs and proper subsidy accounting, fostering a more fiscally responsible and operationally effective power sector.
