India Strengthens Energy Security with Green Ammonia Agreements

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has announced significant progress under the National Green Hydrogen Mission with the signing of Green Ammonia Purchase and Supply Agreements. These long-term agreements aim at bolstering India's energy security, reducing dependency on imports, and saving approximately $2.5 billion over ten years through the substitution of imported grey ammonia. This move is part of India's commitment to achieving a renewable energy capacity of 500 GW by 2030 and fostering economic growth alongside climate action. The agreements are expected to drive substantial investments, enhance domestic capability in green ammonia production, and contribute to the creation of a resilient supply chain in the fertilizer sector.
