India to Launch Viksit Bharat-G RAM G Act for Rural Employment
India's Central Government has announced the 'Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural)', set to replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act from July 1, 2026. The new initiative, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and spearheaded by Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, guarantees 125 days of work annually, increases administrative expenditure allocation, and focuses on rural infrastructure development. The initiative will facilitate projects such as water conservation and the construction of roads, schools, and Anganwadi buildings, while also offering unemployment allowances and delayed payment compensation. With a budget exceeding ₹1.51 lakh crore, this act aims to empower rural workers, enhance income security, and drive sustainable development in villages across India.
