India's Comprehensive River Basin Management Scheme Unveiled
The Government of India has announced the continuation of the River Basin Management (RBM) Scheme to enhance sustainable water governance at the river basin level. Covering the period from 2026–31 and fully funded by a ₹2183 crore investment, the scheme prioritizes the Brahmaputra, Barak, Teesta, and Indus basins. By employing advanced technologies such as GIS, remote sensing, and drone-based surveys, the initiative aims to support comprehensive water resource planning and address challenges in flood, erosion, and cross-border water management for national water security.
