India's First Semiconductor Fabrication Plant Announced in Dholera SEZ
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has proclaimed the establishment of India's first chip fabrication plant at the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Dholera, Gujarat by Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing Private Limited. This development is part of a series of government initiatives to strengthen India's semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sector through reforms in SEZ regulations. The Dholera SEZ, designed to facilitate electronic hardware and software services, will cover 66.166 hectares, creating employment for 21,000 individuals. The SEZ regulations now include reduced land requirements and improved ease of business processes to attract high-value investments. This is a step towards enhancing the domestic semiconductor ecosystem and reducing reliance on imports.
