India is set to conduct its first-ever digital census in 2027, marking a significant leap towards efficient data gathering for informed policymaking. The Census 2027 will use mobile-based data collection, a two-phase enumeration strategy, and include a comprehensive caste enumeration. Supported by a robust legal and institutional framework, the exercise will also feature a secure Census Management & Monitoring System, enhancing real-time tracking and data security.
