Jal Marg Vikas Project Enhances National Waterway-1

The Jal Marg Vikas Project has successfully developed three multimodal terminals and one inter-modal terminal along the National Waterway-1 on the River Ganga to boost cargo handling and movement. The terminals at Haldia and Kalughat have been handed over for operations under public-private partnership models, with stipulated royalty and revenue sharing agreements. Furthermore, a Dredging Management Plan has been implemented to ensure navigability for larger vessels, thus enhancing freight efficiency on the waterway, which has seen cargo movement surge by 220% over the past decade.
