Landslide Risk Mitigation Scheme: Strengthening Disaster Preparedness in Vulnerable States
The Ministry of Home Affairs has reiterated its commitment to enhancing disaster readiness by supporting vulnerable states like Sikkim, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Uttarakhand through the Landslide Risk Mitigation Scheme approved in 2019. The scheme, with a financial outlay of Rs. 43.91 Crore, focuses on various aspects such as landslide mitigation, real-time monitoring, and capacity building. Additionally, a national project worth Rs. 1000 crore is also underway for 15 landslide-prone states, further supported by the National Disaster Mitigation Fund.
