Major Rail Infrastructure Development in North East India
The Ministry of Railways has announced the sanctioning of 12 new railway projects in the North East Region, totaling 777 km in length and costing over ₹69,000 crores. This initiative aims to enhance the rail network's capacity and connectivity in the region, with significant budget increases and numerous surveys sanctioned under the PM Gati Shakti NMP since FY 2022-23. As of March 2025, 278 km of the projects have been commissioned, with an expenditure of ₹41,676 crores incurred.
