Mandatory HUID for Silver Jewellery Implements Digital Traceability and Enhances Consumer Trust

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has mandated Hallmarking Unique Identification (HUID) for silver jewellery and artefacts from 1 September 2025. Since the implementation, over 17 lakh silver pieces have been hallmarked with HUID, exhibiting a strong uptake among jewellers and consumers. BIS continues to conduct awareness campaigns to ensure a successful rollout of the HUID system.
