Ministry of Textiles Reports on Cotton Imports and MSP Operations

The Ministry of Textiles has released data on cotton imports over the past decade, detailing year-wise and country-wise statistics. During the 2024-25 cotton season, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) procured 100.16 lakh bales under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations, with 71.54 lakh bales sold through e-auction. The CCI acts as the Central Nodal Agency for MSP, ensuring farmers receive fair prices when market rates fall below the MSP. The report indicates no plans to restrict cotton imports.
