NTC's ₹6,154.94 Crore Surplus Asset Sale for Textile Revival

The National Textile Corporation (NTC) has utilized ₹6,154.94 crore accrued from the sale of surplus assets to modernize and revive textile mills, under a scheme sanctioned by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). From this fund, ₹1,543.38 crore was allocated for modernization, allowing 23 mills to become operational until the COVID-19 pandemic led to their suspension. Efforts to resume operations post-lockdown were unsuccessful after 2021. This information was disclosed by Textile Minister Shri Pabitra Margherita in a reply at the Lok Sabha.
