Railway Minister Announces Major Expansion of Railway Infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the issuance of a Gazette Notification for creating the South Coastal Railway Zone, effective June 1, 2026. He highlighted Andhra Pradesh's achievement of 100% electrification of its railway network. A record budget of ₹10,134 crore has been allocated to improve railway infrastructure, including major projects like 74 station reconstructions, completion of several flyovers and underpasses, and the ongoing upgrade of the East Coast Railway Corridor to enhance connectivity and travel efficiency.
