Shakti Sadan Scheme Provides Relief to Women in Distress
The Shakti Sadan Scheme, under the Ministry of Women and Child Development in India, integrates former initiatives 'Swadhar Greh' and 'Ujjawala' to support women facing difficult circumstances, including trafficking victims. The initiative, launched on April 1, 2022, offers shelter and rehabilitation in 419 centers nationwide, assisting nearly 19,960 women as of the 2025-26 financial year. This scheme is demand-driven and cooperatively funded by the Central Government to meet regional needs, with oversight enhanced by the Mission Shakti Dashboard for efficient monitoring and implementation.
