Update on National Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported significant progress under the National Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission (NSCAEM), with over 6 crore screenings conducted in 17 tribal-dominated states. The ICMR has validated 30 Point of Care Tests and 5 Non-Rapid Diagnostic Test assays for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD)

World Sickle Cell Day Observance at AIIMS, New Delhi

On June 19, 2025, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs held an event at AIIMS, New Delhi, to mark World Sickle Cell Day. Union Minister Shri Durgadas Uikey announced efforts to eradicate sickle cell anemia by 2047, emphasizing the government's commitment to funding and support. The establishment of Centers
