Voluntary Silver Hallmarking to Begin in 2025
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has announced that Hallmarking Unique Identification (HUID)-based hallmarking for silver jewellery will be introduced on a voluntary basis starting September 1, 2025. This initiative aims to empower consumers to verify the purity of silver articles, enhancing traceability and aligning with existing gold hallmarking systems.
