Unemployability and Skill Training in Rural India
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has reported a significant increase in youth employability in India, rising from 40.44% in 2017 to 51.25% in 2024. The unemployment rate in rural areas has also decreased from 5.7% to 2.8% between 2017-2024. To enhance employability, MSDE is implementing various skill development programs under the Skill India Mission, including the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and partnerships with tech companies for training in new-age skills like AI and IoT. The Skill India Digital Hub has been launched to connect trained candidates with job opportunities.
