Bharat Forecast System: Advancements in Weather Prediction
The Bharat Forecast System (BharatFS) introduces a new Triangular Cubic Octahedral (TCO) grid structure to enhance numerical weather prediction models. This model, developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, aims to improve the resolution and accuracy of weather forecasts, particularly in the context of increasing climate variability. The TCO grid offers advantages such as reduced computational costs and better representation of atmospheric processes, evolving from its predecessor, the IMD-GFS model.
