Boosting Farm Productivity in India

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has reported that 46.1% of India's workforce is employed in agriculture, contributing 17.8% to the GDP for FY 2023-24. The government has launched several initiatives to enhance farm productivity, including the National Food Security and Nutrition Mission (NFSNM), which aims to increase food grain production through various support measures. Other initiatives include promoting mechanization for small farmers and implementing the Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) scheme to improve water-use efficiency through micro irrigation, which has shown productivity increases of 9% to 100% for various crops.
