India’s Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses

On October 11, 2025, Prime Minister Modi launched the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, aiming to enhance domestic pulses production to 350 lakh tonnes and expand cultivation to 310 lakh hectares by 2030-31. With a budget of ₹11,440 crore, the mission ensures 100% procurement of key pulses at MSP for four years, distributes free seed kits, and supports nearly 2 crore farmers. The initiative focuses on nutritional security, self-sufficiency, and sustainable agricultural practices, aiming to reduce import dependence and improve farmers' incomes.
