Progress and Impact of FIDF in Tamil Nadu: Key Figures and Infrastructure Developments

The Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), launched by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 2018-19, is focused on enhancing fisheries infrastructure across India. With a total fund of Rs 7522.48 crore, FIDF provides concessional finance for infrastructure projects. As of now, 228 projects costing Rs 5559.54 crore have been sanctioned, with Tamil Nadu receiving approvals for 108 projects worth Rs 2404.03 crore. FIDF supports the development of fishing harbours, fish landing centres, cold storage facilities, and more, aiding in the growth of fish production and exports, which have seen significant increases between 2020-21 and 2024-25.
