RRI Scientists Unravel Mysteries of Ultraluminous X-ray Sources
Researchers from the Raman Research Institute have been studying the complex behavior of Ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) in the galaxy M74. Their work has revealed the influence of a wobbling accretion disk and an internal wind which cause variations in luminosity and energy distribution. Using a new spectral model, they suggest the compact object could be a neutron star rather than a black hole, challenging previous assumptions and opening avenues for further investigation.
