Welfare Schemes for Handloom Weavers in India

The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is implementing welfare schemes for handloom weavers under the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP). These include financial support of Rs. 8,000 per month for weavers above 60 years with low income, scholarships for their children, and social security through insurance schemes. The total export of cotton textiles has reached US $35,642 million over the last three years, as reported by Union Minister Shri Giriraj Singh in Lok Sabha.
